Mangaluru: In order to facilitate voters, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh declared holiday  for all schools, colleges and government undertaking institutions on November 12.

The DC, in a press release informed that the holiday has been declared under Negotiable Instrument Act 1881, so as to help people cast precious votes. Meanwhile, the DC directed all the public and private institutions to give paid leave to their employees, ensuring that all eligible voters exercise their voting right.

However, this order is not applicable to those who are engaged in emergency services. The employees in emergency services also should be allowed to cast their votes, making some alternative measures, the press release informed.
