Mangaluru: Congress Corporators on Friday met with Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah at a guest rest room at the Mangalore International Airport, soon after his arrival here to attend a spate of programs, and made a strong pitch for the transfer of MCC Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati.
It is learnt that they made specific complaints about the commissioner to the Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah. This was revealed to the Newskarnataka.com by a senior Congress leader present at the closed door meeting under the condition of anonymity. Newskarntaka had earlier reported on the move by the corporators to seek the commissioner’s transfer

Corporators headed by Jacintha Alfred backed by MLA, Mangaluru North. Mohiuddin Bava in one voice listed a series of complaints before the chief minister, most of which were ‘silly’, the leader disclosed. He gave the example of one such complaint; “An attender has been suspended by MCC Commissioner Hephsiba for allowing one Corporator inside her office without her knowledge”.

Another Corporator told the CM that she was not functioning with swiftness, due to which many Corporation works were pending. “The Commissioner lacks will and she does not know how to talk to people and elected representatives”, was another complaint. The MLA of Mangaluru North M Bava brought out an incident that had occurred between him and Hephsiba. Though Corporators did not directly demand the transfer of the IAS rank MCC Commissioner, the hints to the CM were broad enough.
According to the senior leader who spoke to Newkarntaka.com, Siddaramaiah was diplomatic and measured his words carefully while talking to the Corporators. He said that the Chief Minister, after silently listening to the complaints put forth by the Corporators, diplomatically passed the buck to the Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake to resolve the problem. The leader opined, ” MCC Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati is unlikely to be transferred for the moment, on the basis of the body language of the CM.”
