Mangalore : A team from MCC under the direction of Praveen Chandra Karkera, MCC assistant revenue officer along with Manjayya Shetty – health officer; and Balakrishna Gowda – town planning officer,  demolished several illegal petty shops on Wednesday June 25.

The petty shops were located under three flyovers at Kuntikan, Kottara Chowki and Kulur flyovers, that were running their business without permission were bulldozed

Speaking to the media, Balakrishna said that the petty shop owners were warned a month ago to clear the area, but they refused to move. The locals have been complaining,  thus clearing them was essential.

There were liquor bottles in the dustbin next to the petty shops. Locals said some of the petty shop owners were consuming alcohol in the day time too, he added.
