MCC Bank’s new board rolls out five new projects including NRI Cell

Mangaluru: The Mangalore Catholic Cooperative Bank Limited, one of the leading cooperative banks in coastal Karnataka, headquartered in Mangaluru, has a history of 106 years. The bank has grown steadily and fast over the last decade and has started making profits and paying its shareholders dividends in the recent past. The bank, which saw a leap in progress in the last year with customer friendly initiatives, now under the leadership of a new board of directors led by Anil Lobo, has planned a series of activities which will enhance the bank’s service to its customers in a better way.

Addressing the media, Anil Lobo announced five new projects which will be rolled out and inaugurated in the coming days, for the benefit of the bank’s customers. The bank will be launching 5 new ATMs at their branches in Hampankatta, Kankanady, Bajpe, Karkala and BC Road. It will also start e-Stamping, Pan Card and Senior Citizens Card services at selected branches. Mobile Banking services, IMPS services will also be added to the already existing RTGS and NEFT facilities. The Kankanady and BC Road branches will be upgraded to fully airconditioned branches. The most-awaited NRI Cell will be set up at the Hampankatta branch to service the newly initiated NRI banking services and an NRI gathering will be organised to pull and educate more Non-Residents to deposit funds and use the bank’s services.

The facilities for the Udupi District branches will be inaugurated on November 10 at Mother of Sorrows Church Hall, Udupi at 10 AM. Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese will launch the Mobile Banking facility along with e-Stamping, Vidya Bhavishya SB Account, Pand Card and Senior Citizen Card services. The bank’s Chairman Anil Lobo will preside, Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Vicar Var, Udupi Deanery, Srikrishna Rao Kodancha, President, Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Mohammed Iqbal, Advocate will be the chief guests. Alwyn Quadras, President, Catholic Sabha, Udupi Pradesh, Janet Barboza, President, Catholic Sthree Sanghatan, Udupi Diocese and Dion D’Souza, President, ICYM, Udupi Diocese will be the guests of honour.

A fully airconditioned BC Road branch will be inaugurated on November 18. It will be also equipped with an ATM.

Mobile Banking, e-Stamping, Vidya Bhavishya SB Account, Pand Card and Senior Citizen Card services will be launched at all the branches in the Dakshina Kannada district on November 25. The launching ceremony will be held at the Bajpe branch, along with an inauguration of the ATM.

The fully airconditioned and renovated Kankanady branch and ATM will be inaugurated on December 2.

The NRI Cell will be inaugurated at the Head office premises on December 16. A gathering of NRIs will also be organised on this occasion.

Elaborating on the bank’s present developments, Anil Lobo said that the NRI banking service was a long-standing demand of the bank’s customers, which is now fulfilled. Now we can get deposits from all nooks and corners of the world which will help in the development of the bank. We have already received Rs 75 lakhs in deposits, till date, for the NRI accounts which earn an interest rate of 7.5% p.a. With the NRI cell coming up, we will be able to attract more investors as the interest rate is very competitive and better than the Nationalised banks, he said.

He also highlighted about the Vidhya Bavishya SB Account for students, that was initiated to promote saving habits among them and to help them secure their future. A whopping 1.5 % interest p.a. ROI will be paid to this account, which is more than the normal SB account. For Senior citizens, the ROI is 8%, he added.

Customer service is a priority at all our branches and we are working towards making all our customers enjoy a pleasant banking experience with us. Any flaws can be brought to the notice of the management and will be addressed immediately, he assured.
