Mangaluru: Nearly eight cars parked at a rented facility of Yenepoya Hospital at Deralakatte were damaged by masked miscreants on August 14, while a complaint was lodged in this regard on August 16.
The miscreants fled the scene when the hospital security personnel reached the spot.
It is gathered that the car owners, mostly belonging to those who had come to the hospital for treatment did not want to be involved in a police case and hence did not come forward to lodge any complaint despite their cars being damaged in the incident. A person named Ghalib Hussain, whose family member is undergoing treatment at the hospital was in the parking vicinity at the time of the incident i.e. between 1:30-2 am and suffered injuries. He along with a few staff members of the hospital came forward to lodge a complaint with the Ullal police here. The reason behind the act is not yet known.
The hospital, it is learnt has faced issues in the past too and the same has been brought to the notice of the authorities concerned, local MLA and Minister U T Khader. Though the police have increased patrolling in the area, which is sensitive in terms of law and order, such incidents keep occurring and pose a problem to the smooth running of the hospital. The hospital authorities thus have been urging to set up a permanent police outpost outside the hospital.
A case has been registered and investigations are on.
