MAPS emerge on top in Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2020

Mangaluru: The students of Mangalore Academy of Professional Studies (MAPS) emerged topper in the state-level sixth edition of the Sahyadri Whiz Quiz 2020, held at the Sahyadri College campus in Adyar on Friday, March 6.

MAPS led the first two rounds of the preliminary round. In the last round, they scored well and emerged as the champions. Skanda Krishna, Trishul M V and Anurag were part of the team. The winning team won a trophy and cash prize of Rs 25,000.

Ujire SDM College (Autonomous) were the runners-up. Although Sumanth K, Srirama and Varghese Thomas competed well, their dream of coming out on top did not materialize. The runners-up was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 15,000. The third place went to Dr. Nitte NSAM First Class College team, wherein Gagan, Gautam and Rhea Menezes participated and won a trophy and a cash prize of Rs10,000.

A total of 990 students belonging to 48 selected colleges from Mangaluru, Udupi, Kodagu, Karwar, Belgaum and Kasaragod participated in the competition. A total of 150 teams qualified for the second preliminary round. Eventually, only 6 teams qualified for the Grand Finale.

Divakar Kadri, President of Mangalore NIPM and General Manager of CardoLite, handed the prizes over to the winners. He said that along with the regular curriculum, extracurricular activities play an important role in a student’s life. He said that by engaging in such competitive activities, students could have a better future.
