Mangaluru: A building like none other in the entire South India was introduced to the people of the city on Saturday, September 17th in Nanthoor area opposite ‘Sandesha School of Music and Fine Arts’. The inauguration of a sleek 53 storey sky-rise residential apartment which is to be built in the plot was organized by Nasir Moideen, the Managing Director of ‘Westline Constructions’.

Several hundred invitees saw a gala event arranged for them by Westline Constructions group. The launch of their building ‘Westline Signature’ had a spectacular introduction video made by the organisors which showed the magnanimity of the building.

Speaking about his dream plan, Nasir Moideen said “My parents, my children and my wife have all been very supportive in accomplishing my dream. The motivation that I received from my family has directed me to the right path of daring to dream big. I thank all the people who have guided me in various decisions of mine.”

After the official brochure of the building was launched by the chief guests and dignitaries, a model of the building was unveiled. Just as Ramanath Rai and Oscar Fernandez hit the button on a remote presented to them, a seven foot model building rose from the ground level amidst the smoke and light fireworks, the majestic building stood tall infront of all the guests. A sight which the adults adored and left the children awestruck.

Many a builder biggies were present at the event. A few who were spotted are Rauf of Vishwas Bawa Builders, Rohan of Rohan Corporation, Sanath Shetty of SKS Builders, Panchmal Properties owner Lakshman, Asif of Seiko Company, Syed beary of Beary Builders and Krishna Palemar the proprietor of Land Links.

Following the unveiling of the building model, the guests of honour had a few words to share with the distinguished gathering. Gulshan Roy, the Chief Architect of the project is indeed proud of his design. He said, “Westline Signature is an amalgamation of style and modern day architecture. Spacious homes with spectacular view are sure to enhance the lifestyle of the residents. The building is an attempt to provide much required comfort and high standards.”

Ramanath Rai, senior legislator said that the building is coming up in a desired location where the highway, hospitals and several educational institutions are right around the corner. “The proposed projects of central bus stand in pumpwell and DC Office in Padil are close to Nanthoor area as well. I will pray to God for the success of Nasir”, he added.

J R lobo, the MLA of Mangaluru said that this building will definitely add beauty to the city as it is growing at a fast pace. “I had met a French couple who visited our city and they were so delighted to have visited the place. They showered praises on the city for having great potential for tourism. This building is a major boost and acts as a call for investors to come to Mangaluru”, he said.

Oscar Fernandes was present too and he wished for complete success of the project. “Ever since Mangaluru started growing to become a big city, it had been a financial and cultural capital for the state. Nasir’s project adds value to the city and can be rightly called as the ‘Crown of Mangaluru’ and I say this with pride”, He said.

Syed Beary, the founder of Beary Builders and the person behind the legendary building of the city, Beary Towers in Hat-Hill said, “Considering the efforts taken by Nasir and the hard work that he and his team have put into the project, the building is already a success. A building so unique with modern architecture and finesse is something new to the city.”

The proud father of Nasir Moideen and Yasir Moideen, Abdul Rahiman and the recent Devraj Urs Award winner B A Moideen were also present at the event. Krishna Palemar spoke on the occasion as a builder himself; he said “There are various parameters when it comes to building a high-rise apartment, specially the clearances in various fields. Fire safety management and highway entry/exit from the building without creating road blocks is an issue. But I would definitely want to own one apartment in this building.”

On a lighter note, Palemar was seen humouring Ramanath Rai that it was easy for Nasir to have got the clearing for the building with the influence of Rai. But it was all on a humorous note.

All is well that ends well, star Indian singers Sujatha Singh and Avishek Sinha Chaudhary sang some of the people’s favorite Hindi numbers to keep the guests entertained while they had a sumptuous dinner.

About the Sky-scraper apartment

The building has several credits to itself, apart from being the tallest building in South India and first project in Mangaluru to have ‘Building Management System’, Westline Signature will also have a 100 foot lap pool and wading pool, a full fledge health club including a nutrition bar counter, dedicated yoga and aerobics room, sauna, spa, steam bath, an ayurvedic massage center and a sophisticated gym too. All this, on the roof top!

The building layout is in such a way that only 20 percent of the total land area is used for the high rise and the rest of the 80 percent is for landscape, which will give the residents adequate breathing space within the apartment compound. ‘Signature’ will be built on a large area on Nanthoor hills and it will provide a splendid sight of the Arabian Ocean while the resident is seated in a plush apartment.

The residential tower is designed in such a way that there is minimum exposure of the outer walls to sunlight which will ensure that the apartments stay cool. In addition to that, the pleasant brightness of the sun is allowed to enter into the apartments through the French window façade. The ‘L’ shaped structure will have minimal common walls giving the residents a much required solitude.

On a greener note, ‘Signature’ has a Central Chiller Air Condition System which gives a great health benefit over the regular gas operated split AC systems. The Central AC creates a lot of heat, but the same heat is used to provide hot water to the residents at any point of the day or night. Thus ensuring energy efficiency savings of nearly 50% on the energy bills of each resident.

The project is also registered for Platinum Pre-Certification by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). This certification will ensure a positive impact on health and lifestyle of the residents. According to the rating of the project by an accredited consultant of IGBC, ‘Westline Signature’ has scored high on energy modeling which boasts of high energy efficiency and effective cross ventilation.
