Mangaluru: The permanent employees working in the Karnataka Development Corporation have been replaced by their superiors without prior intimation. The workers who have been working for 30 to 40 years have been wronged by suddenly deploying inexperienced employees instead of those who have been working for 30 to 40 years.
The Leaders of Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC) Workers’ Federation and workers staged a strike in front of Nagapattinam Factory alleging that the workers were being forced to work as bonded labourers without providing basic amenities to them.
Local political leaders including Sullia Nagar Panchayat President Vinay Kumar Kandadka, Advocate M. Venkappa Gowda, Town Panchayat Member Buddha Naik Halegate, Nominated Member Boodu Radhakrishna Rai, BJP Secretary Subodh Shetty Menala and others visited the site.
The Manager held talks with Chikka Muthaiah and requested him to continue the status quo by following the way it was in the past for the time being. The workers are our supporters and we want their well-being, he said.
He handed over a memorandum to Manager Chikka Muthaiah to solve the workers’ problem and respond to their demands.
