Mangaluru: Punjalakatte PHC soon to be upgraded

Mangaluru: Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has handled Covid – 19 brilliantly in such a way that the world looks at India. He is not just a leader confined to the party but also a leader for the entire world.

He was speaking after presiding over a Mega Health Mela organised under the cooperation of Punjalakatte Swastik Friends Club at Punjalakatte Primary Health Centre premises here on Sunday February 26. He said, “I am very happy that I too have got the opportunity to serve the people as an MLA in difficult times like Covid. With the advice and cooperation of Dr. Prashanth Marla, Head of A. J. Hospital, the Bantwal Taluk Hospital has been equipped,” he said.

Stating that development works worth about Rs. 2,000 Crore have been implemented during his tenure as MLA in the last five years, he said it is heartening to note that the place has been converted into a peaceful Bantwal without any disturbance.

Punjalakatte Primary Health Care centre has been set up at a cost of Rs 12.40 crore with the cooperation of the Chief Minister and the Health Minister, he noted and added that it will be upgraded to a Community Health Centre at a cost of 12.40 Crore with the tender process already being completed and the foundation stone to be laid by the Health Minister within a week, he said.

Inaugurating the Arogya Mela, Dr. Prashanth Marla, Administrator, A. J. Hospital, Mangaluru, said that the Central and State Governments have implemented several schemes in the interest of the health of the people. Bantwal Taluk Hospital has been upgraded into a very good hospital by providing all facilities as envisaged by MLA Rajesh Naik, he said.
