Mangaluru police nab gang plotting to loot travelers on NH-66

Mangaluru: In a major breakthrough, the Mangaluru City Police have arrested five criminals for conspiring to rob travelers on National Highway 66 in the city, specifically the passengers plying from Mangaluru Airport to Kerala.

The accused have been identified as Ravikumar(24) resident of Puttur Taluk, Khaleel(27) alias Kallu resident of Kunjathoor, Rajesh(30) resident of Kunjathoor, Azim alias Mohammed Azim resident of Kunjathoor, and Jabeer Abbas alias Jabeer resident of Kunjathoor.

The accused were arrested at Kallapu near Ullal and the police have registered cases under the IPC section 402, the Indian Arms Act, and various other sections of the IPC.

It is also learnt that accused are habitual offenders and have been involved in various crimes in the past.

The police have confiscated lethal weapons, some chilli powder, and a Maruti Swift car from the accused.
