Mangaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive to the City on September 2 while on his visit to Kochi Naval Base.

Sources in BJP said Modi will arrive to lay the foundation stone for a new berth at NMPT in Panambur. He will reach Mangaluru Airport at 4.00 pm and from there he will proceed directly to NMPT. Dakshina Kannada BJP sources said that he will participate in a government programme as scheduled. The Dakshina Kannada District BJP is also planning to hold a massive event at the Gold Finch Ground in Kuloor to encash Modi’s visit as the2023 elections are nearing.

However, PM Modi will be arriving in Kochi as scheduled on September 2 to dedicate the warship INS Vikrant to the nation from the Kochi Naval Base. The four-time trialed warship is of utmost importance to the Indian Navy and is India’s first indigenously built aircraft-carrying warship built at a cost of Rs. 20,000 Crore. The event will be attended by Army Chiefs, including the Defence Minister, and heads of the State Government. During PM’s Kochi visit State BJP Leaders are trying to invite Modi to Mangaluru. However, with the dark shadow of communal clashes and Ganeshotsava celebrations in the coastal areas in the first week of September, it is yet to be ascertained whether the VIPs will get a security clearance for his arrival. The NSG troops will come a fortnight in advance and do a security check if the Prime Minister’s event is to take place and the event cannot be held all of a sudden.
