Mangaluru: Peruvai Gram Panchayat in Dakshina Kannada District is a small panchayat with only eight members. Panchayat Vice President Nafeesa Tasly (29) has set an example for others through her unique work. Tasly drove a vehicle carrying garbage herself and has been visiting homes, and shops collecting waste.
Speaking to News Karnataka, Nafeesa Tasly said that the vehicle had arrived at the Gram Panchayat four months ago. It was decided to appoint women drivers so that the women of the village can join the mainstream. Accordingly, as the designated driver had not yet been properly trained for months she drove the vehicle after launching a Swachh Vahini at the Gram Panchayat.
She added that she wants to make Peruvai Gram Panchayat a model Gram Panchayat through Swachh Vahini initiative.
