Mangaluru: Peacock dies due to electrocution at Sajeepa

Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, our national bird peacock lost its life due to electrocution in sajipa.The peacock died after coming in contact with an HT power line at around 11.30 am on Saturday June 10, at Sharada Nagar in Sajeepa Munnur village. Locals informed the forest department after they saw the peacock lying on the side of the road after being electrocuted.

The forest department officials who visited the spot took the dead peacock from the spot to the forest area of Vagga for further action as per the government’s order.

Within a few hours of receiving the information, forest department officials visited the spot and inspected the spot. The incident of electrocution and death is clear. A local man said he saw the peacock die of electrocution. Bantawala Range Forest Officer Rajesh Baligar said that the dead peacock was brought to Kadinjimale hill in Vagga as per government rules.
