Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath distributed the order letter to the prominent people of the constituency after the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Karnataka received more than Rs. 6 Crore for the development of 108 temples, shrines and temples in City South limits.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme at Dr. B. R..Ambedkar Bhavan in Urvastore, MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, “I have made sincere efforts to provide Crores of rupees in the last four years for the development of temples, shrines and temples in the City. At present, more than Rs. 6 Crore has been sanctioned by the religious endowments department of the State Government for the development of 108 temples, shrines and temples and a meeting of the concerned officials and heads of the management committee of the constituency has been convened to ensure proper utilisation of the same, he said.

The officer has been instructed to cooperate with the development of the area by obtaining other information including submission of supporting documents at the time of receiving the grant. In the last four years, I have released maximum amount of funds for the development of more than 300 temples, abs Nagabanas in City. The previous Government had neglected Hindu religious places and our Government has released a historic amount of funds through the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and the Department of Tourism. The question arises as to why this level of grants have not come during the tenure of any other Government, said Kamath.

In the coming days, more Hindu religious places of worship are being planned and there is a plan to develop 50 to 60 such places. For the first time in the history of the City, I have made sincere efforts to provide more than Rs. 20 Crore to Hindu religious places.

MLA Kamath said that action will be taken to release the funds if an affidavit is submitted at the office of Mangaluru City Corporation regarding the receipt of funds for the development of Hindu religious places, registration documents of the centre, bank account details, title deed of the site where the work is to be carried out, building license letter, estimate list of works, and stamp paper.
