Mangaluru: An ATM vehicle carrying Rs 10 lakh without documents was seized from poonjalakatte police station limits in Belthangady taluk at 10 pm on April 10. Karti Madhubabu, a flying squad member, who was on duty in Poonjalakatte police station limits following the enforcement of the model code of conduct, was checking the vehicle near Basaveshwara temple in Kukkala village. The KA-53C 2542 vehicle was found to be carrying an amount of Rs 10 lakh at around 10 pm without proper documents.

The cash and the vehicle were immediately seized and a case has been registered at Poonjalakatte police station for further action. A few weeks ago, belthangady police station had seized Rs 1 lakh from a bike near Guruvayanakere and registered a complaint. It was later returned after proper documentation was provided. Now, for the first time, a huge amount has been found to have been transported in an ATM vehicle without any document.
