Mangaluru: One person died and another sustained serious injury after a hillside collapsed near the railway bridge at Chelairu near Surathkal.

The deceased has been identified as Obaleshwara. According to sources, the incident happened when the rail maintenance work was in progress.

When a train suddenly arrived, the mud on the hill fell and crashed on the workers who were working beneath the bridge.

The injured have been taken into a nearby hospital.
