Mangaluru: A fire broke out in Periyadka area of Koyyur Forest in Belalu Village on Sunday April 2, damaging wildlife in about two acres of land. It is not known why the fire broke out in the region.
DRFO Lokesh, Patrolling Forest Guard Vinay Chandra, Members of Shaurya Disaster teams, Fire Brigade and locals brought the fire under control.
The fire broke out in areas like Neerthane, Ekkela, Koti Hittili and other areas of Mundaje – Dharmasthala Reserve Forest and as soon as it was brought under control, the fire was spreading in Mundrupadi, and other areas. Forest Department personnel and several local people are trying to bring the fire under control. The hot weather is hampering the operations.
