Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a youth from Chikka Mangaluru, who was travelling as a pillion rider on his bike, died after his bike fell into a gorge at Talapady near Kaikambam on BC Road in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Yashodhara, a resident of Chikkamagaluru, who was working in a private company in Mangaluru.

His friend Avinash, who was riding the bike, escaped unhurt with minor injuries.
Both of them, who are employed at the Mangaluru City Centre, had gone to a kola at a friend’s house in Belthangady and were returning from there around 3.30 am when they reached the KSRTC near Kaikambam in BC Road they fell to a depth of more than 10 feet at Talapady near the bus depot. His co-rider Yashodhara, who was on the back of the bike, was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Melkar traffic police visited the spot and registered a case.
