Mangaluru: City police raided the district prison and confiscated items like mobiles and ganja early in the morning on Monday, September 5.
The police team led by city police commissioner Chandra Shekar raided the prison at around 2 am on Monday. As many as 29 mobile phones, 12 SIM cards, a knife and a metal punch along with an unspecified amount of ganja were seized in the raid.
The inmates in the prison were using internet through WiFi, said sources.
DCPs Sanjeev Patil and Shantharaju, ACPs Thilakraj and Uday Naik, Inspectors Rajesh, Maruti Naik, Shantharam and Raveesh from Barke, Kadri, Bunder and Urwa police stations respectively along with KSRP personnel participated in the raid.
