Mangaluru: Two police personnel from Mangaluru rural police station were felicitated by the department on Monday April 26, for helping to shift a pregnant woman undergoing labour pain to the hospital in the police vehicle.

The police personnel are assistant sub inspector Harish K and constable Vijay Kumar.

“I appreciate both the staffs for their timely help. If they had not shown the concern and lent a helping hand, then both the mother and her child would have been in trouble,” said police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

He further said that the pregnant woman was travelling from Guruvayanakere by an Alto car which developed problems and came to a halt at Arkula at 1:15 am on April 24. She was accompanied by her husband.

Shashi Kumar said that the police personnel helped her reach AJ Hospital. The woman delivered a baby boy. Both the mother and baby are healthy.
