Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a man was killed when a car in which he was travelling collided head-on with a divider and overturned on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru road on April 7.
The deceased has been identified as Sadashiva Acharya, a resident of Nandarabettu.
Sadashiva’s grandson, driver Akash, son-in-law Suresh Acharya and son-in-law Ganesh Acharya escaped unhurt with minor injuries.
The accident took place near Ajjibettu cross in BC Road when Eritiga car was returning home from Puttur after participating in the deity’s work. Due to the carelessness of the driver, the car hit the divider and then overturned. Four people, including the driver, were travelling in the car.
The accident took place when he was about to reach his house in less than five minutes after attending a religious function at a relative’s house in Puttur. Sadashiva, who suffered serious head injuries in the accident, was rushed to Kaikambam Parlia Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
A case has been registered at Melkar traffic police station and SI Murthy visited the spot.
