Mangaluru: Residents of coastal region are experiencing sweltering heat, with the coastal city recording average March temperatures of 35 degree Celsius. The highest ever for this year of time.
The scorching heat made residents to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day. The weather department has issued warning the residents take precautionary measures to avoid health complications arise due to heat condition.
The situation is particularly severe in Puttur, a town in Dakshina Kannada district, where temperatures have soared to a scorching 41°C in the afternoon. To cope with the extreme heat, some residents have resorted to creative solutions, with a photo of a house in Puttur using sprinklers on its roof going viral on social media. The image highlights the lengths people are going to in order to find relief from the relentless heat.
Meanwhile, a person who was employed under MNAREGA work might have succumbed to intense heat condition in Kalaburgi district. Reports claim that Sharanappa Samagar, 42 collapsed while doing MNAREGA related work in Dannur village in Aland Taluk of the district.
His death has raised suspicion that he died to due to scorching heat or might have died due to heart attack. Narona police have registered a case and investigation is going on.
