Mangaluru: A case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act after two youth barged into a house under Uppinangady Police Station limits in Dakshina Kannada District here and tried to rape a girl.

The arrested have been identified as Hasainar (24) and Abbas (30), residents of Koila Village in Kadaba Taluk.

According to the girl’s complaint, the two accused, who had been working in Karaya Village for the past three days for the purpose of felling trees, went to the victim’s house on the pretext of asking for water and noticed about the members of the house.

Around 8.00 pm the next day, Hasainar, along with his associate Abbas, entered the house forcefully and tried to rape the girl. When the girl and the girl’s mother shouted for protection, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her.

Later, with the help of locals, the accused were caught and handed over to the Police.
