Mangaluru: The auditions for Mangaluru’s biggest group dance reality show, ‘Maestro productions – Dare 2 Dance’ took place at the famous Forum mall in Mangaluru on June 7, 2016.
With Sanjay Kumar, the founder of Sanjay’s Dance Planet and the Artistic Director of XLNC Dance Company and Coastalwood Actress Sonal Monteiro as judges, and popular VJ Deekshith Shetty as anchor, the auditions started off really well.

The talents showcased in the auditions were in par with international standards.

The teams started pouring in at 9 am. As many as 25 teams were registered with teams from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kushalnagar-Coorg, Puttur, Udupi, Kinnigoli, Belthangandy, Surathkal and Mangaluru.  

For the very first time, teams from Mumbai and Bengaluru were taking part in a dance competition hosted in Mangaluru.

The teams performed hip-hop, freestyle, devotional, contemporary on Kannada, Hindi, English and Tamil songs.

Karkala’s Red Hawkz was one of the very few teams which got selected on the spot while others had to wait till the evening for results. Arpith Manohar, a member of Red Hawkz, said that he along with his team was full of confidence and were certain to impress the judge.

The show did have its wow moments. The B-boying acts impressed the judges to such an extent that the judges were flattered.

One of the very important observations on the show was while earlier on reality shows, most contestants fought with their parents to attend the auditions, now parents are supporting their children, which is a big change.

Choreographer Anil Nayak of team SMDC Wanted Boys from Puttur expressed his confidence in his students and said that they would sail through to the next round. And boy, they did get through!

The auditions, on the whole, looked very promising, with a firm focus on dance.

The judges, Sanjay and Sonal sat through the entire proceedings with some clear cut judgments. The results were announced in the end. They wished all the participants who were not selected, to keep trying.

Most of the contestants are very young, and several of them will be worth watching out for.

Everyone is looking forward to watch the show which will be on air in a period of two months.

The show will be aired on Namma TV.
