Mangaluru: Mangalore University has directed its affiliated colleges to declare Dasara holidays from September 30 to October 15.

The University’s Registrar has issued a circular to the principals of the autonomous and all other colleges, with which it is affiliated, in this regard.

It can be noted that Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath had met and appealed to Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar to declare Dasara holidays for school and college students from September 30, to allow them to participate in the festival rituals.

Obliging to this, the minister had granted Dasara holidays to the schools and colleges from October 1 to 15.

However, this direction was not applicable to degree colleges affiliated to the Mangalore University.

Now, with the circular from the University registrar, all affiliated educational institution students can participate in and enjoy the festivities.
