Mangalore: The sound of gun fire at the Durga Parameshwari Temple in the premises of the famous Kadri Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple at around 11.30 am on March 31, Sunday, caused panic among devotees for some time. A marble businessman named Prakash who  had been to the temple to offer his prayers, to his shock  found a bullet on the ground close by him, just when he turned around on hearing the sound of gunfire, while he was offering his prayers to the Goddess.

The businessman immediately informed the Kadri Police who rushed to the spot . ACP Kavitha  visited the spot and gathered information from those present and assured a probe.  The authorities were also instructed to  have a thorough review  of the CCTV footages.

At the outset it seems as if the underworld  elements have made their presence felt once again in the city.  Beyond doubt, a shoot-out  in a temple precincts is an indication of the dangers that lay ahead.  It has   also underscored  the need for the cops to keep a strict eye on underworld elements.
