Mangalore: Harsh Gupta, the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, has assured all possible measures to ensure free and fair assembly elections scheduled to be held on May 5.
Addressing his maiden press meet after taking charge as DC from N Prakash, Gupta said he was immensely pleased to take charge as DC of Dakshina Kannada district where he had served as Assistant Commissioner 14 years ago.
He said he would gather details from officials regarding election arrangements and added more efforts would be made to ensure maximum voting percentage in the district during the elections. He said the last date for inclusion or revision of names in the voters’ list was April 7 and added steps would be taken to ensure strict implementation of poll code of conduct. A few teams have also been formed in this direction.
He said the helpline number in the DC office can be called by the public for any election related complaint. He also said that three complaints have been received regarding poll code of conduct violation.
MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar, Additional DC Dayanand, ZP CEO N Vijayaprakash and others were present on the occasion.
