Mangalore: The Mangalore-Kuwait Air India operations resumed on Monday October 27, months after they had halted the service.
Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo, Karnataka minister Roshan Baig, MLC Ivan D’Souza and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel along with several NRI organizations in Kuwait had been demanding the Air India Express and union government to restore the direct flight service between Mangalore and Kuwait.

Before boarding the flight along with his wife, JR Lobo addressed the press. He recalled that eight months back they had raised this issue in the Vidhana Sabha, when the state government held talks with the central government.
Claiming to which the central government said that Mangalore was very poor in financial investments and there were not many flight services and therefore reintroduction of the Mangalore-Kuwait flight service was not possible, however in time and struggle the filght was resumed.
Sweets were distributed among the guests and to the passengers in celebration.
Mangalore Air India manager Nagesh Shetty, deputy mayor Kavitha Vasu, Denis D’Silva, T K Sudhir and others were also present.
The flight is scheduled to be thrice a week the AIE flight would depart from Mangalore at 7:30 a.m. and reach Kuwait via Bahrain at 11.15 a.m. (local time). On the return journey it would depart from Kuwait at 12.15 p.m. (local time) and arrive here at 7.25 p.m.
