Mangaluru: The Diocese of Mangalore disbursed financial help to the poor students for their education on May 27, 2019 at the Bishop’s house. Most. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha distributed the cheques to the students.
Speaking on the occasion, bishop said that catholic church is of the poor and for the poor. “The money that is given to poor students involves the savings and sacrifices done by the Catholics during Lenten season. The CODP of Mangalore diocese organised this whole campaign and identified the poor students. Bishop motivated the students to help other poor students by the ways doing their personal contribution after they get jobs. A generous giver receives in hundred fold, follow the law of gratuitousness. The diocese of Mangalore has been giving this educational help as an annual feature for the past many years to help the poor students though CODP. Today financial help is disbursed to 89 students belonging to all faiths. This year, Mangalore diocese has helped more than 150 students”, he said.
