Mangalore: The construction works of bank which is scheduled to be inaugurated shortly at Shirthady, was in all swing, when a worker got locked in one of the bank safe’s, for two hours on Wednesday, October 29.

A branch of the cooperative bank that is likely to be opened soon in the commercial complex of Shirthady market. It is learnt that the safe is built in the strongest room of the bank. As cleaning work was going-on the door of the safe was kept open. A brick was kept near its door to prevent it from closing.
A worker named Ashfaq a resident of Belvai, who is hearing and speech impaired, had gone inside the safe in the morning to clean it, some person, who did not notice that Ashfaq was inside, removed the brick and closed the safe.
The workers then went out to drink tea, while no one realized that Ashfaq was trapped inside.
As he was hearing and speech impaired, he banged the door for several minutes until the other workers outside learnt that Ashfaq was trapped in. As the door was locked, it was not possible to open it.
The others worked smart, while some got a local doctor to provid him oxygen through a small hole in order that Ashfaq would breathe, others went and got the key from the Mangalore office.
By the end of the trauma Ashfaq was brought out safely, he spent nearly two hours inside.
