Mangalore : In the first ever judgement delivered by the special court-the sixth Additional District and Sessions Court formed as per the SC ruling  for speedy disposal of cases of crime against women, a man from Belalu in Belthangady taluk has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for raping a minor.

The convict is Chandappa (34). He was arrested  for raping a 17 year old girl, also a relative of his, in a hilly area at Malebettu on May 14, 2012 after taking her in an autorickshaw promising a job in a shop in Belthangady.

As many as 13 witnesses were heard in this case.
