Karkala: A man was nabbed by the police for allegedly raping a middle aged bedridden woman, at Karkala.

The arrested is Ganesh Nayak, resident of Kukkundooru Kallabettu.

It is said that Nayak, a pick-up van driver had developed closeness with the lady claiming that he is a social worker. Slowly, he developed sexual relationship with her despite her protests. The accused is said to have threatened the lady and her aged mother and raped the woman persistently.

The aged mother of the woman then lodged a complaint in the town police station. Circle inspector G M Naikar conducted the investigating under the guidance of ASP Dr Sumana and the accused was nabbed on January 1.

Ganesh Nayak is married and has a nine-year-old son.

The court has ordered 15 days’ judicial custody for the accused.
