A resident in Guripalla, near Ujire, fell victim to an online scam after befriending a woman on Facebook.
Sathish Gowda, working abroad, lost Rs 6,96,500 as the woman, gaining his trust, convinced him to transfer money to various bank accounts for different reasons.
A complaint has been filed with the cyber-crime police station, and an investigation is underway.
