Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, a man killed himself after slitting his lover’s throat, at Gurupura, on the outskirts of the city. The lady, however is recovering, it is gathered.

The man identified as Diwakar, 35 is the deceased. He was in love with his colleague Mamatha, 30.

It is said that both had separated from their respective spouses and were in a relationship. Diwakar was living with his aunt and brother Keshava at Gurupura and Mamata used to come over to his house regularly. But, as per Keshava, the two used to have frequent fights and even the day before the death of Diwakar, they had a fight but on Keshava’s intervention they had sorted the issue out.

On Wednesday, Diwakar’s aunt, who was aware of the fight the two had the previous day, encountered the couple near Gurupura bridge. However, when she reached home after some time, she was shocked to find Diwakar hanging from the ceiling in his room. Meanwhile, Mamata was found in an injured state and was rushed to Wenlock hospital. She is said to be recovering. A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.
