Udupi: A youth in a rage of anger stabbed a girl to death after she denied his proposal and turned down his love for her. The incident occurred at Kadekar on Wednesday November 27.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjitha (20), a resident of Patelthota, Kadekar who was allegedly murdered by Yogesh (25), an electrician during the morning hours.

It is learnt that Yogesh and Ranjitha were neighbours, where he had been trying to peruse her for the past one year but she refused to give consent; however an adamant Yogesh on Wednesday morning took a dreadful decision.

Yogesh approached her and demanded her approval, when she refused he wielded a knife and stabbed her in the broad day light after escaping from the spot. The locals who saw Ranjitha in a pool of blood rushed her to Ajjarkad hospital, where she was pronounced brought dead.

Ranjitha was a second year BA student at Dr G Shanker Government Women’s First Grade College.  It is learnt, her family had once earlier complained to the police against Yogish. The police had then convened Yogish to the station but let him go with just a warning.

The Dalit Sangharsha Samiti leaders demanded that the post-mortem be done in Manipal hospital so that a proper post mortem can be conducted thus later her body was shifted from Ajjarkad hospital.

Yogesh has gone absconding and a search for him is on, whereas the Malpe police have registered a case and investigating on the same.
