Kasargod: An eight-year-old student was caned by a Madrasa teacher to the extent that the boy reportedly had to undergo treatment in a hospital.

The victim is Riyaz Rehan from Parekatte in Uppala.

It is said that the teacher working in a Madrasa near Nayabazar English Medium school assaulted him and following brutal slashes, the boy was admitted to Kumbla Hospital.

The Madrasa authorities have promised action.
