LPG pumping station land row, DC to inspect on July 8

Mangalore: The Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has decided to conduct a spot inspection on July 8 in at Neriya village in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, where the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has plans of constructing a pump house.

As a part of its Mangalore – Hassan – Mysore – Solur LPG Pipeline Project, the HPCL has initiated the move however the local residents have objected the proposal.

The HPCL authorities had identified land at Pilikala in Neriya for the purpose, in a meeting chaired by the DC along with the residents of Neriya and surrounding villages, the locals opposed the HPCL move

Villagers suggested in the meet that the land belong to a farmer in Kuvethilu may be acquired for the purpose. Following this, the DC has decided to visit the spot. HPCL has plans to implement the 362-km pipeline project between Mangalore and Bangalore at an estimated cost of Rs 701 crore.

The project is being opposed by villagers under the banner of Action Committee against Mangalore – Hassan – Mysore – Solur Gas Pipeline Project
