Mangaluru: In a rather shameful incident, a live mobile phone camera was found fitted in the ladies’ washroom of Mangalore university campus, Konaje. The incident came to light on August 24.

A girl, who noticed the camera in the washroom on August 24, informed the management about it. To the shock of the management, the mobile had two clippings of 15 and 30 minutes duration. The mobile along with a power bank was covered in a blue coloured paper and placed in a hole in a blue coloured plank in the washroom.

It is said that the device was using local WiFi to transmit images and videos. Thorough checking revealed that images and videos were transmitted on August 7 and 11. It is also gathered that there was no SIM present in the phone.

The matter was discussed in the University Syndicate meeting on Wednesday, August 31. The Syndicate has directed its member K M Lokesh to look into the matter.
