Link LPG with Aadhaar/bank accounts in three months

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim on Monday asked the consumers of LPG gas connection to approach bank and cylinder suppliers with Aadhaar card and bank account details in order to avail subsidized price from the government. 

Speaking at the LPG consumers grievances meeting at the District Commissioner’s office, Deputy Commissioner said only 22 percent of the LPG consumers have got this process done. After three months, the consumers will have to pay the entire amount to the cylinder suppliers and the subsidy amount will be credited to the bank accounts, he added.

There are 3.50 lakh LPG consumers in the district. As per the direction of the central government, consumers have three months time to link their LPG numbers with Aadhaar card and bank accounts; he said and added that the customers shall not to wait till the last minute.

Dinakar Thonse, regional manager of Bharath Petroleum Corporation Limited said that the consumers will have to submit IFSC code of the bank to the gas agency. The gas holders will have to pay Rs 742 to the suppliers. The subsidy amount will be credited to the bank within two or three days of the delivery of the cylinder.

He also said that the gas agencies cannot demand additional charges. Every consumer can avail 12 LPG cylinders in a year for a subsidized price.
