Karkala : Lightning strike has partially damaged a few houses in the taluk and has  left one person injured.

The houses of Leela Shekhar Mera of Nooralbettu, Lakshmi Subbayya Poojary, Eedu Shanthi, Nitte Mulladka Shekhar Mukhari, Andaru Anantaraya Acharya and Kukkundur Girija Madivalti were damaged and electrical appliances destroyed. A person named Kukkundur Ravi was injured.

Lightning strike also damaged around 40 areca trees of Nemiraj of Nooralbettu. Several electric poles too were razed to the ground after a huge tree fell over them at Mudaru.
