Belthangadi: Learning should be fun and the curriculum should not burden students, opined a Belgian graduate trainee trio while imparting skills to CBSE students at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) School in Ujire.
The graduate student trainees named Lisa, Ena and Ikram on a tour of India, felt Indian students were innovative with excellent thinking capacity and grasping power but felt that the co-scholastic activities played a vital role in the overall development of children at school level.
Relishing their role while imparting skills to students at SDM school here, the Belgian trio felt the practice of prayer, group singing, Yoga and providing Midday meals were worth employing in their country Belgium as well.
It is important to know the country’s culture and through cultural exchange between countries, a better understanding evolves, they opined.
After imparting co-scholastic skills to high school students in Bengaluru and Bijapur in the state, the Belgian trio are in Ujire to train the 9th grade students at SDM-CBSE school. Art, drama, films, quiz, singing , games, dance and cooking without fuel are among the activities employed by the trio to make learning interesting for students.
After having toured several tourist locales in Kerala and Karnataka, the three Bachelor of Education (B Ed) trainees are keen on learning Bharatnatyam and spread the Indian dance form in their country.
The trio dressed in Indian attire signed off by stating that despite vast difference in the system of education in both the countries, the mental make-up of students remained the same.
