Mangaluru: After the lockdown was enforced in the Dakshina Kannada district, autorickshaw drivers have been left without work and are no longer able to earn a living, making their lives difficult. Hence, the Ladyhill Autorickshaw Union in the city disbursed grocery items to its members on Monday, April 13.

As this union has been collecting a small amount from its members as registration fee and earns some money through its chit fund, it deposited a small amount in the bank. Seeing that their members are struggling, the union decided to disburse grocery kits to them by utilising the money in the bank.

The grocery kit comprises 10 kgs of rice, 2 kgs sugar and half kg tea powder.

“Even though this is not enough for our entire family, we are pleased with our union’s gesture,” says Prasad Kodical, a member of the union.
