Kasargod: A daily wage worker was killed in front of his friends by smashing his head with a boulder for not paying hafta.
The deceased has been identified as Sharanappa(39) from Koppal. Mani(32) from Chennikkare colony in Kasargod has been taken into custody in connection to the incident.

The incident occured on Saturday night near Nullippady when Sharanappa along with his friends Kumar, Maruthi, Mohammed Mastan and Mallikarjuna was resting in front a shop. Mani arrived at the spot and demanded hafta. When Sharanappa denied, Mani indulged in a fight and smashed his head with a boulder. When Sharanappa’s friend Maruthi came to rescue, Mani attacked him too and escaped. Sharanappa was immediately shifted to Nullippady private hospital but he died on the way.

District police commissioner Thomson Jose, DySP Sukumaran and circle inspector Abdul Raheem carried an operation and took Mani into custody. The body will be handed over to the family after post mortem.

Accused Mani is said to be involved in several criminal cases.
