Kasargod: A tragedy was missed by the passengers waiting at Kumbla bus stand, on Friday evening when a huge chunk of concrete fell from the ceiling owing to heavy rains.

The bus stand has been in dilapidated state over the last several years and many pleas to repair the building has fallen on deaf ears.
The locals say that chunks of concrete falling off from the ceiling has been a common scene over the last two years.
Though the locals have been demanding demolition of the building before it claims a life, no action has been taken by authorities concerned.
The only action that the local Gram Panchayat took was to put up a huge flex stating that entry into the building has been banned. But, the locals say that they are left with no other option but to take shelter in the same building when it rains.
Further, there are over 25 shops which are functioning inside the building, eking out income.
The locals say that a new bus stand is a must for Kumbla city which is growing rapidly.
