KSPCB prepares action plan to check pollution by MRPL

Mangalore :An official release said that following complaints on pollution around Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL), the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board will send a team of scientists to ascertain the levels of pollution there.

The decision was taken after B. Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment met residents of Jokatte at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Mr. Rai said a meeting should be held involving representatives of MRPL, Mangalore Special Economic Zone and ONGC-MRPL.

K. Abhayachandra Jain, Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports, who is also the local MLA, was present, the release said.
