In a bid to accelerate the announcement of the II PU examination results, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has augmented the number of evaluation centres from 65 to 75 this year. Notably, Bengaluru will witness the addition of 10 evaluation centres, as per a circular issued by KSEAB.
Sources within KSEAB revealed that the augmentation in centres aims to streamline the evaluation process, enabling the timely declaration of results. This early announcement is particularly beneficial for candidates needing to reappear for supplementary examinations in case of failure. The board’s decision to conduct two supplementary exams instead of one has proven advantageous for many students.
The ongoing II PU exams are scheduled to conclude on March 22, with the evaluation process slated to commence promptly thereafter. Last year, examinations concluded on March 29, and results were declared on April 21. While approximately 7.3 lakh candidates appeared for the exam in 2023, the number has slightly decreased to around 6.9 lakh candidates this year. With the increased number of evaluation centres, authorities anticipate completing the process even faster than the previous year.
Moreover, the early announcement of results will advance the schedule for the two supplementary examinations. Completing both supplementary exams by the end of May will facilitate seamless continuation of education for candidates, as most colleges commence admissions from June onwards.
In Dakshina Kannada, where a total of six evaluation centres are designated, two existing centres have been relocated to alternate colleges due to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, where their premises will be utilized for polling purposes. CD Jayanna, DDPU of Dakshina Kannada, stated that they are anticipating a circular regarding the commencement of the evaluation process this week. However, KSEAB Chairperson N Manjushree was unavailable for comment.
