Mangalore:The State Health Minister UT Khader flagged off the Walkathon organized by KS Hegde Charitable Hospital on the eve of World Heart Day at Pumpwell circle today.

Nitte University Dean Dr Shantharam Shetty, Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Ajith Kumar and others took part in the marathon to encourage the people of the city.

Speaking on the occasion, the health minister called upon people to maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent heart ailments. Regular exercise and jogging will help the heart, he said. On this occasion, the minister said  steps would be taken to arrange for free heart check-up at primary health centers once a year for all those above three years of age.
