Puttur: There is good news for Tuluvas in the state budget presented on July 12, Friday. The Chief Minister has fulfilled a long standing demand by allocating Rs 5 crores in the budget for the development of a heritage spot, Padumale, the birth place of great warriors and Tulunadu folk legends Koti and Chennaya.
The place was devoid of development over the past several years for want of funds and the Padumale Koti-Chennaya Aithihasika Kshetra Samvardhana Pratishtana which was formed last year had been constantly striving to prevail upon the government to release funds for the cause.
One can catch a glimpse of several relics in Padumale associated with the life and times of Koti Chennaya. There is the Ballalara Beedu, the house of Deyi Baidethi, mother of Koti Chennaya, Nyaya Chavadi of Padumale Ballal, ancient wells as well as the house of Koti Chennaya’s uncle Sayana Baidya.
