Mangaluru: In order to create awareness among the public about COVID-19, Kasargod Siribagilu Venkappaiah Samskruthika Prathishtana (Reg) has come out with a Yakshagana play titled with ‘Koronasura Vadhe’, which has gone viral on social media now.
As district administration has banned conducting Yakshagana programme, the Prathishtana has made this Yakshagana exclusively for creating awareness among the public. The link of this Yakshagana has gone viral.
Yakshagana playback singer Siribagilu Ramakrishna Mayya has played a pivotal role in organising this Yakshagana. Senior Yakshagana scholar Shridhar D S and Yakshagana Bayalata Academy president Prof M A Hegade assisted with lyrics to this Yakshagana.
Senior Yakshagana artists Madhur Radhakrishna Navada and Vasudeva Ranga Bhat have played lead roles in this Yakshagana. While Radhakrishna Navada played the role of ‘Koronasura’, Vasudeva Ranga Bhat has played the role of Dhanvanthari Deva, who kills Koronasura.
The other artists are Jayaprakash Permude, Gururaja Holla Bayar, Prakash Nayak Neerchal, Kishan Aggithaya Nellikatte, Krishna Bhat Devarakana, Shabareesha Manya and Kiran Kudrekodlu.
The whole Yakshagana emphasises the need of maintaining cleanliness and respecting the nature. This Yakshagana play alerts the public that if people destroy the nature, there is a threat to the whole world in future as well.
