Mangaluru: MCC Joint Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak took charge of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) from the outgoing commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, on Monday night.
Korlapati was transferred as the Chief Executive Officer of Vijayapura Zilla Panchayat within six months of assuming charge here, under pressure from corporators and legislators of the area.
Korlapati was always in the news mainly for all the wrong reasons during her brief stint in the city. In the very first week of her tenure, she earned the wrath of paurakarmikas for not entering their houses for inspection. A few days later, a group of city corporators along with the then mayor had requested the Chief Minister to transfer her alleging that she failed to do justice to her job and that she hardly had any respect for them. However, the CM discarded the appeal and urged the corporators to render service with mutual understanding and co-operation. Present MCC Mayor Jascintha Alfred and Korlpati too share differences of opinion on several issues and that all is not well between them, it is gathered.
However Korlapati always maintained that she was trying to bring in an effective administrative system but she never got good support from her councillors.
